Delayed Postings

March 8, 2018

Apologies for the lack of postings. Our current hotel, the Park Ruapehu has appallingly bad wifi. I have spent well over an hour trying to coax it into working. I get good signal strength, but then their program won't accept my code, or it will tell me to reconnect because there's a problem. (Duh.  I noticed.)

And even when I connect, they must have it throttled up the wazoo, because it works at the speed of a sloth harnessed to a snail, and both of them are dragging a brick behind them (last I checked, I had 6 Mbps - but that was good, because that was when it was working).  It is constantly dropping the Internet connection, pages time out, and you can't even get to their logon page.  It is extremely frustrating, and had I known they had crap Internet, I would have stayed somewhere else.  I will be mentioning that to them when I leave and in my online review.

So, mark that down. Write it in pen, because you won't need to erase it.  The Park Ruapehu: only stay here when you want to be completely cut off from the world. 😒

Moving on to a new location and hotel tomorrow, where the Internet cannot possibly be worse, so hopefully I can resume posting.

(How did I post this?  Picked up a wifi on my phone and posted via email.  Hope it works.)
🙂

UPDATED: When checking out, I told them their wifi (named "Zappie") was crappy, and the desk clerk agreed and says management is working on a better solution.  When the weather is poor, the wifi suffers, so I think it may be satellite based?  Anyway, I have forgiven them, even though it was irksome in the extreme.  But I still might ask if their internet had improved before staying again.

Also, scroll down to read new posts.

  1. While I very much enjoy your blog postings (and I also know the dingo's didn't get you) I certainly wouldn't want you to stress about not being able to entertain your masses! :)

    1. Being away from the Internet is stressful. The Internet is my one true best friend. I had to console myself with talking to Jacqueline, but it was hard.

    1. Do you need 'lo look' (I don't think I can pull of 'la look', but maybe a 'lo look'?)
